About Us

From our modest beginnings in 1994 Ragland has grown into one of the premier walls & ceilings, interior and exterior finish systems contractors in Pennsylvania. With a dream and a prayer Bill, Michel and Jim Ragland started their business in a home office October 1994. After a decade of successfully constructing award winning projects the Ragland's moved their business to their new office space located just outside of Birdsboro. This space showcases some of the various aspects and materials of the construction industry that the company installs.

We have stayed ahead of the curve within our industry, realizing the value that technology brings to the construction industry. With our computerized on-screen take-off, bid compilation, and pre-bid software, we can compile a competitive and thorough bid in a tight schedule.

From the management in the field, to the management in our office, we have people who care about the projects. Our staff also understands the importance of keeping on schedule while still delivering a quality product.

E.I.F.S Projects-Sovereign

The Sovereign Plaza is a new facility utilized for Sovereign Bancorp's operations. The Plaza is located in downtown Reading and was part of the revitalization process of the city's business district. This project was located on one of the busiest traffic corridors through the city, making it an extremely high profile project. Ragland was contracted to install the EIFS cladding on this design/build project, our scope also included preparation of detailed shop drawings. This job had multiple elements that both challenged us and showed the level of ability our EIFS mechanics possess. The level of detail on the building is second to none, from a beveled under sill to the intricate detail at the head of the curved windows. With all the details, arches, horizontal reveals and grooves the intention of this construction was to mimic some of the early architecture of the surrounding structures built in early 20th century. We are pleased to have accomplished this aspect, and delivered a quality product that looked exactly as designed.

E.I.F.S Projects-American Home Bank

The American Home Bank building is home to the main headquarters for the bank. It's a 43,000 square foot building consisting of Executive offices, general offices, conference rooms, fitness room, lunch and mail rooms. Ragland performed the EIFS package and the metal framing, drywall, and acoustical ceiling packages on this project. This was actually Ragland's first EIFS installation performed for High Construction, and a high profile project. To ensure Ragland had the best interest of the owner in mind, we requested a pre installation meeting with the owner and asked the caulking, mechanical and electrical contractors to attend. The meeting brought all issues to the forefront and the necessary changes were made to assure the best results were attained. The EIFS had started in February 2005, one of the coldest months of the winter season and was completed in April 2005.

Ragland provided a high quality EIFS system for the Owner and was presented with the Excellence in Construction award from ABC.

E.I.F.S Projects-Freedom Village

Freedom Village is a three-story apartment building that caters to the senior citizen. The complex also consists of a commercial kitchen, dining area, multi-purpose room and a lounge. The buildings exterior is a combination of Cast Stone and Exterior Insulation & Finish System that accent each other to create an attractive building.

The Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems totaled approximately 21,000 square feet. Ragland began the EIFS installation in December 2005. Throughout the months of December, January, February and early March our work was performed with weather protection in place, adding to the difficulty of the installation. Weather conditions were reviewed days in advance by our EIFS team to plan work best suited for those particular days. Careful preparation was made for items that penetrate the systems, for example hose bibs, light fixtures, louvers, etc. to ensure no moisture damaged the system. With proper planning, knowledgeable staff and our skilled EIFS team the obstacles were overcome for a successful project.

Ragland is pleased to claim that the installation was completed on time and with quality the General Contractor and Owner can be proud of.

E.I.F.S Projects-Feddock Residence

This is customizing at its best. It is always all about what the owner or architect envisions. This is what we try to capture. Usually, (once we have a clear understanding of the look and feel that someone is after), such design cannot be found in any type of prefabrication. This is where good old fashion craftsmanship comes in, and this is where we shine! If you’re not sure if a certain look or detail is possible, ask us. We will gladly offer suggestions to help achieve your design and still maintain any standards that may apply. We are an EIFS Smart contractor and we have a thorough understanding of any and all details involved with every phase of hard coat or soft coat insulation. Just see our About Us page for contact information.

Below you will find some previous interior projects.

Most wall and ceiling contractors are capable of standard fit-up and interior framing. However, not all have the extensive experience of Ragland Corporation.

While drywall installation is often looked at as a mundane and simplistic part of most projects, we view it much differently. Most contractors look to the wall and ceilings subcontractors to drive this portion of the project in order to gain valuable time that may have been lost in the earlier stages. Ragland is able to bring our experience of multi-floor and area/building to bear with the ability to run the phases all in the same timeframe; many times with multiple foremen to oversee these phases/areas.

We have installed almost every imaginable ceiling tile and grid system, along with highly specialized ceiling clouds, sound deadening panels and aluminum panels to name a few. These installations have ranged from offices, auditoriums, theaters, colleges, and multiple other building types.

Interior Projects-The Homewood Suites Hotel

The Homewood Suites Hotel is a five story hotel located 15 miles Northwest of Philadelphia. The 112,515 square foot building is comprised by a main lounge, exercise room, private meeting rooms, board rooms, food preparation area, offices and 123 guest rooms. Ragland's contract was a design/build with High Construction that included metal stud framing, drywall, ceilings and roof trusses.

Ragland started the overall project in July 2004. We believe the installation of the trusses was the focal point of this project. As with many projects, the activities leading up to the truss installation had fallen behind schedule due to weather and fabrication delays. Ragland prepared an aggressive 30-day schedule and set over five hundred trusses, including four gable ends and twelve dormers. As soon as a wing had trusses set and braced, the roofing contractor started his work and continued to follow our installation which allowed the building to be water tight in a timely manner. The interior work that needed a dry environment started and the project gained momentum and met the finish date required by the owner.

Ragland was awarded Excellence in Construction for the metal work on this project.

Interior Projects-Precision Medical Products

Precision Medical Products is a 102,512 square foot office and Manufacturing facility located in Denver, PA. The building consists of four major areas, executive and administrative office on the first and second levels, an exquisite 40-foot Atrium, a manufacturing area with a state of the art cleaning room and warehouse. PMP was a very unique project for Ragland. It was our first project where we were responsible for more than our customary items; metal stud framing, drywall and acoustical ceilings, we provided temporary protection at roof, duct, and elevator openings, general cleaning of the building, temporary doors, all specialty items under Division 10, toilet partitions, lockers, markers and tack boards, etc.

Our most satisfying aspect of the project was our work in the Atrium. Ragland was also responsible for supplying and installing over 400 Acrovyn stainless steel panels which are the showcase of the 40-foot high by 90-foot long Atrium. The stainless panels required high level of craftsmanship in the field measuring the panels for fabrication. The drywall needed a near-perfect finish due to the large amount of natural light and accent lighting.

Ragland is proud to say that we proved that open shop contractors are a valuable asset to large contractors, offering them quality construction and a commitment to success in completing their project.

Interior Projects-Bomberger Hall

This 28,000 square foot renovation project at Bomberger Hall was a very satisfying project for the entire Ragland construction team. Bomberger Hall is the oldest building on the campus of Ursinus College located in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. The 3-story building was constructed in 1891 and contains an auditorium consisting of stained glass and old Architectural woodwork. Ragland's contract consisted of metal framing, drywall, plaster patching, acoustical ceilings and exterior stucco.

Renovations to the building began January 2006. Although the interior took on a new look, the old architecture was always in mind. The metal framing had its share of intricate radiuses and multi tier soffits that enhanced the character and look of the building. There was considerable existing plaster to be patched in the Auditorium and throughout the building. The ceilings were a combination of acoustical and drywall throughout the 3 story building.

The project was completed on schedule for the Spring Semester classes in January of 2007. The renovated hall now houses the Music Department, Politics and International Relations, Anthropology and Sociology, and Business and Economics departments. A Meditation Chapel was also added in the completely renovated basement area.
